Cursed (2005)

Plot: Ellie has been taking care of her younger brother Jimmy since their parents death. One night after picking him up from a party they are involved in a car accident on Mullholland Drive. While trying to rescue a woman from the other car a creature attacks and kills her, also injuring both Ellie and Jimmy. After some research Jimmy realizes the creature could only have been a werewolf.

Good question!
I think it was just a story, to illustrate a point: if you as a human does nothing, has no "raison d’etre" so to speak, you too will be "cursed" and "whither away".
The only thing the fig tree was supposed to do was bear fruit, and it didn’t, so it served no purpose to Life.
Don’t take the bible too literally! It contains lots of simple parables which serve as guides for getting through Life with as little scarring as possible. You don’t even have to be religious to like the wisdoms in the bible — ancient nuggets of truth handed on from long before the age of Jesus Christ.

If there is one thing that you should take away from reading the bible, it’s that god holds him to completely different standards than he holds humans to, the standard he applies to himself is that everything he does is right, no matter what.
This is rather similar to the standard that the various catholic sects apply to their dogma – it is simply accepted as correct, standards are only used for criticizing the ideas of others.

Averell A is right basically. If you know anything about Jesus, is that he was fond of speaking in parables. As Averell suggested it’s not meant to be taken that literally that he went up to a fig tree and actually cursed it, but it’s meant to illustrate a morale and a point to what he was preaching about.

Thats hilarious! although I am not a devout christian or anything, the character of Jesus in the bible, the parts i have read, is pretty clever. Lots of metaphors. I guess the fig tree tale is an allegory for the person…
Therefore i can only posit that it is rational to demand a person can detach him/herself from a stifling convention to create something vital and nourishing

The fig tree represented Israel , that country had God in person for three years and only a few believed in him and they bore no fruit ( spreading the gospel )

Was it really a fig tree? Yehoshua says that you can tell what type of tree it is by what type of fruit it bears.
He was not mad at the fig tree. He was using it as an example for us.
If we give/display an external appearance of being a Christian but do not have any Christian values or attributes or are not doing the good deeds that Christians should be doing, then are we REALLY Christians or are we just a bunch of sinners dressed up to make others believe that we are Christians.
Will Yehoshua cast us out come Judgment Day?
