I have some unpublished fantasy novels of mine that doesn’t involve any of the above. :0)

Seriously. I don’t write mainstream, though I read some of it.

The storyline of the series centers on two lost princesses plunged into a fight against a tyrant king on Dead Earth and his armies of Hellion’s Gate–even as they strive to recover what they lost in terms of past lives, family, and royal status.

Along the way, they meet up with a handsome ship’s captain whom is embroiled in a personal conflict with a neighboring dynasty whose queen has some romantic designs on him. (But so does the main character, Princess Jeanna Ulyssus.)

However, they all run into resistance in the form of an invasion on a local seaside township, a seige on the open ocean and a confrontation with the queen herself–which results in the two princesses’ eventual capture.

I’ve only gotten two and a third of the books complete so far. But most of the elements included in Stories of the Dead Earth is what you would call ‘paranormal’ but with a comedic twist.

I didn’t want the whole experience to sound ‘panned’ or ‘dead’, but something lively and often unexpected.

Along with sky dragons, mecha, and magic, I combined my love of RPGs and anime to create this rather unusual book series.

The two princesses in question are high-level magic users with their own 5th-generation power armor and mecha configuration abilities. Plus they have the help of two specialized wrist-comps named Seth and Merlin to guide them through some of the tough spots.

And what they fight or *encounter* is beyond most people’s basic understanding. It combines a lot of religious annecdotes, mysticism, and some lampooned hilarity–but I wanted something *different* for the characters to confront, face, and eventually defeat.

And it’s never easy either. A lot of times, everyone in question is faced with near death on some occasions and others…? It’s just downright CREEPY.

Does going to competitive colleges like Rice U increase career opportunities?
First I would like to say that I am a Texan. My "ultimate dream school" would be Rice University. However, I don’t feel like I have the grades for this school. I mean, I don’t have terrible grades but Rice has really high standards. What do y’all think? Do I have some chance of admission to the following schools: Rice U, Baylor, UT Austin, Colombia U, USC? To help you decide, here are some of my current academic statistics as a senior:

–GPA 3.65 (unweighted and on a 4 pt scale)
–ACT 29
–Taken all honors/AP classes since freshman year
–Involved in Key club, Earth Club, and Hispanic Club. I am secretary for Hispanic Club.
–Inducted last year into Spanish NHS (I am treasurer) and received a highly regarded school award that recognizes student’s who make a true impact in the school community

With your strong background, you should certainly try for a competitive university. There are at least three reasons for doing so:
1. Competing will sharpen your skills…not only educationally, but socially and psychologically. You will be at the top of your game. This will be especially valuable when you enter the work force.
2. You will meet people who will be able to help you after you graduate. These include not only faculty and administration, but your classmates. Remember too: Competitive colleges usually have very active alumni associations that "look out for their own." Recommendations and referrals are coin of the realm when looking for a job … getting a promotion … going out after sales.
3. Competitive colleges graduate the cream of the crop — from the service academies to the instantly recognizable regional/national giants, like Rice. Prospective employers will scan your c.v. (resume) with heightened interest when they see the name of your alma mater, and, of course, many of them, will be the product of similar schools.

You should also consider Columbia and USC, if your finances allow it. I would also put Stanford, Northwestern and Georgetown on your A list.

By no means spend time at a community college…not with your sterlilng background. Go for the gold, now and for the rest of your life!

Does anyone know any good manga with good artwork?
I really want to read a good manga with nice artwork, and a nice plot. All the manga that I’ve been reading lately seem to have not necessarily bad artwork, but it’s nothing amazing, so I really want to read something that has really good artwork. I’m also getting sick of shoujo manga, but it’s still okay. I prefer shounen, like D.Gray-man and Kuroshitsuji, but I also love shoujo manga like Dengeki Daisy and Ouran High School Host Club. I’ve already read Vampire Knight, Bleach, Rozen Maiden, MAR, Inuyasha, Naruto, Fairy Tail, Prince of Tennis, Zatch Bell, Death Note, The Wallflower, 07-Ghost, Fullmetal Alchemist, One Piece, and Pandora Hearts. Well, I would recommend Dragon Ball. I read it like a billion times, they’re very funny and very entertaining. Especially the last ten books or so, so hang in there. And of course I mean the original Dragon Ball books, not Dragon Ball Z….
Ranma 1/2 is also very funny, and perhaps sorta girly, but I love them too.
DN Angel… I’ve read a coupl of the books, but never actually finished it, but I’ve heard that it’s pretty good also.
Hmm… I guess i ran out of manga’s there. Could recommend a few animes, if that’s anything. Mostly by Hayao Miyazaki, he’s fucking fantastic. Spirited Away, Howl’s moving castle, Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, Princess Mononoko… Those are my favorites. And they have lots of wonderful artwork. Especially Nausicaa I’d reckon.

I would also say that you should read Ranma 1/2, though the art wok isn’t that amazing. The person who made Inuyasha made Ranma 1/2 as well. I also really liked Rurouni Kenshin. I think it’s shounen and it’s really old, but it’s sooooo good!!!!! The anime version has a different ending to it, a really sad ending, while the manga has a cute ending. I recommend you read it though!!!

The three with the best artwork I like are

Gantz (horror, scifi, mystery, action, lots of bloody combat.) Very realistic art. Normal eyes and people’s expressions show their feelings even if just one eye is showing. The story is fascinating, too.

Mysterious Girlfriend X (mystery, romance, supernatural) Simple, clean art, almost ‘plain’ but that’s good. Very little ‘chibiness’. Lots of little details you miss at first, so read slowly. Don’t be put off by it, it’s not as gross as it seems. The romance part really is mysterious and wonderful.

Bitter Virgin (romance, tragedy) Big manga eyes, but otherwise decent art with the BEST romance story I have ever, ever read. Heartbreaking at first, and it is based partly on the real life of the mangaka! Many cliffhangers, but you will want so badly for them to succeed. A selfish young jerk learns a deep dark secret about a girl he never thought he’d care for. As he learns more about her, he wants to protect her and take care of her and make her happy, until his love for her causes him to mature into a caring, sensitive, compassionate, responsible young man. Read this with tissues, you’ll need them! I have read this over and over and I’m not tired of it yet!

Generally speaking, any game that has a season attached to it is considered protected wildlife, and a hunting/trapping license is the official permit to take that game. I’m in NY. Some unprotected game that you can take without a license in NY state are woodchucks and redsquirls. Most everything else requires a license, has a season, and daily bag limits.

I’ve always watched the series (all of em) and seen all the movie. Worst in my opinion was the Undiscovered Country. A few of them drug along and were stretched, but that one bore me to tears. Best I would have to give the nod to the original. Awesome effects for it’s time with a great cast and cool little twist with the Voyager thing. I also liked the remake and how they were able to tip their hat to the original for trekies, but made it enjoyable for people that had never watched them before.
